A Surprise Letter

 Hi all!  Today Mom told me to get the mail, since it had been a few days.

 So I let Elizabeth finish making the bed, while I ran down to the mailbox.  Back inside the house, I was picking though our letters when I spotted it.  Practically flying upstairs, I showed my sister the envelope.

 "Elizabeth!" I said, gasping for air. "Look (pant) at this (pant)!" (Running upstairs had made me lose my breath.)

 "What is it, Chrissa?" she inquired, looking away from our newly-made bed.

 "A letter from Libby and Marie!" I said excitedly.

 We opened it up, and quickly ran off to read our letters.

What a nice surprise!  Do you like getting letters?

An "Enlightening" Experience

 Hello, lovely readers!  Yesterday Julie, Saige, and Livey invited us to their dorm for the afternoon.

 "Thanks for coming over!" Julie said as she opened the door, where it was pouring rain.

 "Thank you for inviting us!" Chrissa replied, hanging up her raincoat.  "It's raining like cats and dogs out there!"

 "Can I get ether of you a drink?" Livey asked us.  "Elizabeth, there's some tea brewing, if you'd like some."

"I'll have water" my sister said.  "Thanks, Livey."

 "Tea would be quite nice." I smiled at Livey. "Thank you."

 "Hey Julie," Chrissa started, "Why does Santa Claus have three gardens?"

Glancing at me, Julie replied, "I don't know."

"So he can ho, ho, ho!" Chrissa laughed.

"Good one!" Livey said.  Pointing at their wall, she asked "Do you like the collage?"

 "I love the collage! Did you make it?" Chrissa asked.

Nodding proudly, Julie said "Yes, I did."

"What would you like to do, Elizabeth?" Saige asked me quietly, as Julie, Chrissa and Livey carried on with their conversation.  "There's a new episode of Cupcake Wars on, if you want to watch it."

"That sounds great." I said.  So Saige turned on the TV.

 "And the winner of Cupcake Wars and $10,000 is..."

Inconveniently, the power went out.  What followed was mayhem.  There was what sounded like two screams, and loads of running that followed with a few crashing noises.

 Julie and Chrissa had dived under the the safety of the table, Chrissa taking Chocolate Chip and Julie grabbing Sugar.  Meatloaf escaped both their grasps and landed on top of the table.

 "Is everyone alright?" I asked, hoping for the best.

"Yes" Julie said, huddled under the table.

"Yes" Chrissa agreed.

"I am" Lively said, standing up.

"I think we're all fine" Saige said.

"Excellent." I said.

"What should we do?" Livey asked.

"I think the best thing is to wait for the power to come back on." Saige said.  Smiling, she added,  "And it's safe to come out from under the table, you two."

 "No it's not." Julie and Chrissa said at the same time.  "You should come under the table too.  It's much safer." Chrissa defended.  I smiled at Saige.

"Shall we do something to pass the time?" I inquired of my friend.

"Why not tell stories?" she suggested.  Finding that to be great idea, we did. And we all had a blast.  The lights came back on later, but in the meantime we had loads of fun.

Sometimes, you just have to make the best of a bad situation.

Let Us Never Forget 9/11

 As you know, today is the anniversary of the terror attack on the World Trade Center.  Since we're home schooled, Mother insisted that Chrissa and I take a break from schoolwork this morning to watch the coverage of the remembrance ceremony.  We had a moment of silence at 8:45am, when the first plane hit the north tower.  Over three thousand innocent people died from that impact into the Twin Towers.  Let us never forget September 11, 2001.

A Surprising Discovery

 Hi all!  This morning I made a unexpected discovery.

 It all started when I was reaching way back to get my flip-flops out of the closet floor, but when I tried to pull my shoes out, they caught on something.  

"What's holding them back?" I wondered.

 "Nellie!  That's where you were!" I cried happily. "How did you get down there?"  Nellie had gone missing a few days ago.  On closer inspection, I noted that she had dog slobber on her tiny purple dress, as well as small bite marks.

"I bet Chocolate Chip got a hold of you, and stuffed you down there." I told my poor doll.  "I'll have to punish her, after I comb your hair."  I bushed Nellie's rough hair until it shone like the sun.

 So, I had gotten my flip-flops,

...But more importantly, I had found something much more precious: Nellie, my first American Girl doll.  Well, as they always say, things turn up where you lest expect them!

Fabric Shopping at Joanns

 Hello, readers!  I wanted some new clothes, so Mother took me to Joann's to go fabric shopping today.

We walked into the store, and I quickly headed to the fabric section.

 There is so much to chose from!

"Mother, please come here.  I have a question." I called, after we were almost done.

"Would this fabric be good for a shirt?" I asked.

"Yes, I think so." Mother agreed.  "What do you think of this blue fabric?  I think it would look very lovely with your eyes."

"Oh, it is lovely!"  I said joyfully. "Thank you, Mother!"

In the end, we bought four different fabrics: a white cotton/polyester for a shirt, a pink flower design of pure cotton, a dainty white cotton with a faint branch pattern, and the lovely blue flower fabric that Mother found.  

I can't wait to start sewing!
