Birthday Gifts in the Mail!

Hi all!  I hope you are having just as fab a day as I am.  When Mom and Elizabeth got the mail this morning, there was a late birthday package ...
"Chrissa!" Elizabeth called up the stairs. "There's something for you from Lexie and Melodie!"
"Really?" I exclaimed, running down and plopping in a chair.
"Yes - here you go." Elizabeth handed me a little stack of wrapped presents. "I'm going to go and finish my book."
"Okay!"
To begin, I read the card.  It was so sweet!
Next, I opened up the first gift to find that it was a purse and held a matching wallet, and two other little presents, which I unwrapped to find ...
... a cute collar and leash for my dog!
Immediately, I tried it on Chocolate Chip.  The collar fit her perfectly!
Besides all those great things, the last gift held a beautiful scarf!  My reaction when I opened it went something like this:
"What. The. Lime. Peels!  This is soooooo perfectly FABSOME!!!!!"  I said, twirling around to admire it from every angle. "Now I just need a outfit cute enough to go with this!"
Getting late birthday gifts is like a ice cream sandwich on a hot summer day!  Thank you so much, Lexie and Melodie!
What would you want most to find under wrapping paper?

To the Mailbox

Hello, lovely readers!  Due to the large amount of rain in our area recently, my family had not picked up our mail in a few days.
Consequently, after lunch, I went to get it.  Chrissa would  have, but she was working on a birthday gift for our cousin, Liberty, whose birthday is on Wednesday.
I hooked up Sugar's leash so she could come along.  Her little legs needed the exercise!
I turned the nob, and we went out the door.
All that rain left the grass quite lush and green.
After a semi-short walk, I arrived at the mailbox ...
... and emptied it of it's contents.  Upon returning home, I unclasped Sugar's leash and sifted through the mail.  To my excitement, I found a letter addressed to me, as well as one for my sister.
"Chrissa!" I called upstairs. "Please come down!"
"Why?" she replied, curious.
"There's a letter for you from Kit P!"
"Okay; I'll be down in a sec!"
While I was waiting, I open the cute, colorful envelope.
And read the letter from my North Carolina pen pal, Kit P. (Chrissa and I call her that so as not to confuse her with our cousin Kit.)
"Where's my card?" Chrissa wanted to know when she arrived downstairs.
"On the counter." I said, gesturing to the kitchen.
"Thanks!" she replied, grabbing it and running back upstairs.  I finished reading my card, and look forward to writing a reply.
Do you like receiving or sending letters better?

A Book and a Letter

Hello, lovely readers!  I have been having a wonderful day, because first of all, we ate out for lunch, and secondly, Mother took Chrissa and I to the library!  I love going to our library, because it has so many books.  To me, it is so exciting to step through those library doors.
When we returned home, I opened a book and started reading.  Suddenly, Chrissa started singing Let It Go from the Disney movie Frozen.
"Let it go; let it go!
Can't hold it back anymore
Let it go, let it go
Turn my back and slam the door!"  my sister blared loudly.
"Chrissa?  Could you please quiet down?" I encouraged.  "I'm reading."
"You would be singing too if you knew why I am." Chrissa hinted.
"Why are you singing, then?"
"Because ... we got letters from Libby and Marie-Grace!  Eee!"  Chrissa exclaimed, continuing to sing.
"Really?" I asked, setting down my book ...
... and curiously heading down the stairs.
"Of course!  Here's yours." my dancing sister said, shoving a envelope in my outstretched hand.
Quickly sitting down, Chrissa and I read the long-anticipated letters.  E-mails are nice, but there is no replacement for a hand-written note.
What excites you?

Mail on a Rainy Day

Hello, lovely readers!  Since it's raining outside, to-day was the sort of day that you feel like curling up with a good book, which is exactly what I did...

... until Chrissa ran up the stairs and barged into my quietness.
"Hey Elizabeth!  Great news!  The rain let up for a second, so I ran out and got the mail, and there were two letters for us!" Chrissa said excitedly with one breath.
"From Marie-Grace, Liberty, Lexie, and Melodie?" I guessed.
"Yup!  Isn't it cool how we almost always get letters from them at the same time?"
"Indeed."
Here are the letters from our cousins.
Eagerly, Chrissa and I sat down to read our pen pals' words.
"Elizabeth?" my sister asked.
"Yes?"
"Do you want to write replies to these awesome letters, like, right now?"
"Sure, that sounds like a lovely idea." I agreed.  So, we dragged our letter supplies out of the closet, ...
 ... and began to write.
"What do you think?" I inquired, holding up a white card with two red hearts below the message Happy Valentine's Day.
"Oh, how cute!  I like the Valentine's day idea." Chrissa said, while busily snipping some paper.
When we finished our letters, Chrissa and I addressed and stamped the envelopes.  They are ready to go!
How do you spend a rainy day?

A Surprise Letter

Hi all!  Today Mom told me to get the mail, since it had been a few days.
So I let Elizabeth finish making the bed, while I ran down to the mailbox.  Back inside the house, I was picking though our letters when I spotted it.  Practically flying upstairs, I showed my sister the envelope.
"Elizabeth!" I said, gasping for air. "Look (pant) at this (pant)!" (Running upstairs had made me lose my breath.)
"What is it, Chrissa?" she inquired, looking away from our newly-made bed.
"A letter from Libby and Marie!" I said excitedly.
We opened it up, and quickly ran off to read our letters.

What a nice surprise!  Do you like getting letters?
(P.S. Do you like Elizabeth's new skirt that she made?  It's from the fabric she bought in this post:Fabric Shopping at Joanns)
