A Walk in the Park

Hi all!  Life has been a little cray-cray lately, so I am glad to be able to post again.  We are now in Colorado (and have been so since June 5).  This walk actually happened a couple weeks ago while we were still in Nebraska, but you can enjoy it all the same!
After a yummy picnic dinner (that included the watermelon you see here), Nana, Papa, Mom, and Dad talked while my sisters and I walked around the park.
Georgia took the lead as we enjoyed the setting sun and soft light.
 Marching forward. :^)
Along the path, we found some beautiful purple flowers.  They smelled like rain.
"Come on, it would be fun!" I tried to convince my reluctant sisters.
"Don't you think we're a little old for tag?" Georgia said.
"I don't know, Chrissa." Elizabeth sighed.
"You know you want to!  Please?"
"Oh, very well."
"Yay!"
"Look out behind you, Chrissa!" Georgia warned as Elizabeth reached out to tag me.
"Georgia!" Elizabeth laughed as I bounded away. "I almost had her!"
"Now where did she go?" Elizabeth said.  Little did she know I had climbed the tree.
I laughed quietly - or so I thought!  Elizabeth squeezed my foot and smiled. "You're It!"
After we finished our game, we walked over to a petite, pretty plot of daises.
How do you like to enjoy a summer's eve?

To the Mailbox

Hello, lovely readers!  Due to the large amount of rain in our area recently, my family had not picked up our mail in a few days.
Consequently, after lunch, I went to get it.  Chrissa would  have, but she was working on a birthday gift for our cousin, Liberty, whose birthday is on Wednesday.
I hooked up Sugar's leash so she could come along.  Her little legs needed the exercise!
I turned the nob, and we went out the door.
All that rain left the grass quite lush and green.
After a semi-short walk, I arrived at the mailbox ...
... and emptied it of it's contents.  Upon returning home, I unclasped Sugar's leash and sifted through the mail.  To my excitement, I found a letter addressed to me, as well as one for my sister.
"Chrissa!" I called upstairs. "Please come down!"
"Why?" she replied, curious.
"There's a letter for you from Kit P!"
"Okay; I'll be down in a sec!"
While I was waiting, I open the cute, colorful envelope.
And read the letter from my North Carolina pen pal, Kit P. (Chrissa and I call her that so as not to confuse her with our cousin Kit.)
"Where's my card?" Chrissa wanted to know when she arrived downstairs.
"On the counter." I said, gesturing to the kitchen.
"Thanks!" she replied, grabbing it and running back upstairs.  I finished reading my card, and look forward to writing a reply.
Do you like receiving or sending letters better?

A Walk and American Girl Dolls

Hi all!  I've had a lovely Saturday.  Let me tell you why.
So, after I had finished my chores this morning, I played on my Nook. After lunch, Chocolate Chip, my puppy, was going crazy (basically, it was time for a walk).
When Chocolate Chip heard me say "walk", her tail wagged furiously!  I hooked up her leash, and we were out the door!
The sun was shining and the birds chirruping. It's a beautiful day.
 Isn't she the cutest thing?

I love the camera angle on this one!
After my dog and I returned, I ran upstairs.
"What are you doing?" I asked my sister, Elizabeth.
"Oh, Chrissa!" she quickly turned around.  "I just finished a blanket for my dolls."
"That's so cool!  Speaking of AG dolls, do you want play?" I asked hopefully.
"That is an excellent idea."
So, Elizabeth reached out and set her dolls, Caroline and Beth, on her lap, ...
... and I grabbed Felicity and Nellie, who are mine.
We have had an awesome day, with the prospect of Saturday night pizza later for dinner.  Yum, yum.
How is you favorite way to spend a Saturday?

A Lovely Afternoon with Marie-Grace and Liberty

Hello, lovely readers!  Bundling up two days ago, ...
... we headed outside with our dolls.
"Thanks for letting me borrow Felicity, Chrissa!"  Liberty said.
"You're welcome.  Can't wait until you have your own AG doll!" Chrissa responded with a smile.
"Shall we play?" Marie-Grace asked.
"Certainly; let us start." I agreed.  We spent a nice time playing with our American Girl dolls.  When the dolls finished their adventure, Marie-Grace and I brought them inside while Liberty and Chrissa went to climb a tree.
"Come on, Libby!" Chrissa called.  "We're almost to the top!"
"Coming!" Liberty yelled back.  "All I can see is your feet!"

"This is one of my fave spots." Chrissa told her cousin.
"Chrissa and Liberty?  Elizabeth and I are going on a walk."   Marie said.
"Okay!  See ya later!" Liberty and Chrissa said in unison.
We walked around Nana and Papa's neighborhood, both enjoying the quiet and talking.
"It has been ever so lovely to see you again, Elizabeth." my cousin said warmly.
"I must say the same.  Is it not wonderful how alike we are?" I replied.
"I shall be quite sad when you must leave."
"I as well."
"Hey!" Liberty invited. "Chrissa and I are going on the tire swing!  Do you want to come?"  Together, Marie and I looked at our skirts and laughed.
"I think we shall pass." I answered for both of us, Marie-Grace nodding in agreement.
"This is awesome!" we head Libby say.
"Okay, one more swing and then it's my turn!" Chrissa said excitedly.
"So-much-fun!" Chrissa yelled, swinging back and forth.
"Do you want to go on the slide?" Liberty asked Chrissa, who clambered off the tire swing.
"Sure, why not?" Chrissa replied, making them both laugh.
"Weeeeeee!"
"Look out, Libby!" Chrissa cautioned Liberty, who scrambled up just in time.  "Look at that cool beam-ish thing!  I'm going to do a cartwheel."

"Cool, Chrissa!" Liberty praised.  "You know I can't do that." (http://sandhilladventuresadollblog.blogspot.com/2013/12/home-alone.html)
"Thanks.  Do you want to go on the trampoline?" Chrissa wondered.
"Sure, why not?"
Dropping their shoes in the grass, the cousin-friends climbed onto the trampoline.
Bouncing up and down, Chrissa and Liberty sang ridiculous songs; but soon fell down, laughing and gasping for breath, only to jump back up and restart the cycle.
Marie-Grace, Liberty, Chrissa and I spent a lovely afternoon in the outdoors.
How do you like to spend time outside?
