We're Ready for Fall!

Hello, lovely readers!  While Mother shopped this afternoon, my sisters and I decorated our house for fall!
"I think that's all of it." Georgia said, setting down the last load.
"Yep!" Chrissa dusted off her hands.
"I think we should split up - one of us do the kitchen, and the other two work in here." I suggested.
"I call the kitchen!" Chrissa nearly yelled.
"Okay, Chrissa!  You don't have to shout!" Georgia laughed. "Looks like you and I are working here, Elizabeth."
"See you people later." Chrissa said, grabbing the table cloth and decorations.
"Elizabeth - why don't you do the mantel, and I'll do sofa." my sister offered.
"That is fine with me."
Georgia tried a few different arrangements for the cushion (which I made) and blanket.
Meanwhile, I set up the mantel with dried leaves and little pumpkins.
A few minutes later, Georgia and I stepped back to admire our work.  Suddenly, the phone rang.
"I'll get it!" Chrissa shouted.
I turned to Georgia.  "Shall we go over and see how Chrissa is doing?"
"Sure!" she replied
"Hey Chrissa - who was on the phone?" Georgia asked.
"Oh, that was Mom.  She was just letting us know that she'd be back from Target soon.  And guess what she's bringing back?"
"Popcorn?" I suggested.
"Candy corn?" Georgia offered.
"You're right Georgia - it's candy corn!" Chrissa exclaimed excitedly.
"Yes!"
"Nice job on the decor, Chrissa"
"Thanks!"
"If you two don't mind," I said, "I'm going to finish reading."
"Fine by me!  Hey Georgia - do you want to play Island Hopper?" Chrissa asked.
"Sure, why not?"
They were just setting up the game as I went upstairs.
When Mother returned, she let each of us have ten candy corns.  They were delicious!
What do you like best about fall?

Garage Sales and the Library

Hi all!  This morning, my mom took Elizabeth and I garage saleing (if that's even a word)!  I found some neat stuff, namely ...
... a American Girl doll-sized horse, a set little dog figures, and a neck pillow, which will good for traveling.  Elizabeth just got some fabric.  By the time we got home, it was lunch time, so we sat down and ate.  Then, we packed up our books and headed to the library!
Upon we walking inside, my sister immediately went to look for some book series about princesses.  Mom and I returned the books we were done reading.  Then we went our separate ways to get new books!
Usually, I just meander down the isles, grabbing anything that looks interesting.
"Did you find any good books?" Mom asked later.
"I hope so." I smiled.  Elizabeth walked over, carrying two bags full of books, and looking perfectly happy.
"I'm set until next week." she said, making both of us laugh.
Then we all checked out, and hopped in the car.
"Shotgun!" I called, jumping into the passenger seat.
As a special treat, Mom took Elizabeth and I to the McDonald's drive-through.  I got a strawberry shake, of course.
I can't wait to start reading!
Do you like going to the library?

Chrissa's Coustume Birthday Party

Hi all!  Today was my birthday party with my friends!  I wish you all could have joined me; it was so fun!  The theme this year was a costume party, so everyone came dressed up.  Once they arrived, I asked everyone to say their name and what they were dressed up as.
"I'll start," Felicity stated, "and Kit can go next."
"We can just go around the circle clockwise." Elizabeth quietly suggested.
"Okay.  Well, I'm Felicity, and I'm dressed up as a famous movie star." she said, tossing her head.
"I'm Kit. I'm wearing a dress that I found at the last second, I didn't know that we were supposed to wear costumes! Yea, sure the invitation said so, but still, we were in the car when McKenna asked, 'Aren't you going to wear a costume?' And so I ran inside and grabbed this from McKenna's closet and changed quickly."
"Thank you for that story, Kit.  Your turn, Izzy." I smiled.
"As she just said, I am Izzy and I'm a princess." my friend told us.
"That is a lovely dress, Izzy." Elizabeth commented.
"Thank you."
"Hello, I'm McKenna and I'm an Olympic figure skater."
Nellie, one of my friends from church, went next.
"My name is Nellie, and I'm dressed as a cheerleader."
"I'm obviously Chrissa, and I'm some kind of prairie girl someone-or-another." I said.
Elizabeth, who was sitting next to me, told her name and that she was dressed as a duchess (think Downton Abby).  Samantha was a cowgirl, and Sidnee was a rock star/famous singer (she had a great costume!).

The first activity we did was a photo booth.  Below are some of the pictures of us, a few with crazy accessories, some without.

Next, we played musical chairs.  I used music from Frozen, and Kit sang crazily along until we all insisted that she stopped.  The game turned out kind of wild, because there were many competitive people who would dive for the chairs.  In the end, it came down to Kit and Sidnee, Sidnee being the close victor of the game.
After the game, we got a group picture.
Then, it was time for cake!
"Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Chrissa, happy birthday to you!" they all sang, although you could almost only hear Kit, who was nearly shouting it.
"I want the first piece of cake!" Kit said.
"No, Chrissa is the birthday girl, so she's the one who gets it." Elizabeth insisted, setting it on my plate.
"I can have the second piece then." my cousin said.  It wasn't a question.
"Very well."
 Everyone enjoyed their cake.
But Kit's seemed to disappear faster than anyone else's!
Celebrating with my friends was so much fun!
What would be your dream birthday party?

To the Pool!

Hi all!  Today, even though it was cloudy, it was really hot, so after Elizabeth and I had finished all our school, Mom suggested that we go to the neighborhood pool, and of course we agreed!  My sister and I pulled on our swimsuits, slapped on some sunscreen, and jumped in the car.
"For the first time in forever I can finally go to the pool!" I sang happily.
"Are you singing 'For the First Time in Forever'?" Elizabeth asked, ducking her head as my hand narrowly avoided smacking her face.  "And you know that we just went swimming a month ago?"
"Yea, but it's more sentimental." I replied.
"We're at the pool, girls." Mom announced.
"Yay!"
Quickly, Elizabeth and I laid down our towels on the hot cement.
"Shall  we swim?" my sister asked.
"Let's go!" I said, jumping into the water.
"How does it feel?"
"A little cold at first, but nice once you get used to it." I replied, swimming on my back.
Popping back out, I told Elizabeth to hurry up and get in.
"I am coming, Chrissa." she replied, sounding a little annoyed and pulling off her cover-up.
 "Isn't it great?" I commented.
"Yes, it is." she agreed.  We had lots of fun swimming.  First, we played a 'copy jump' game, where one of us would make up a interesting jump in to the water, and the other person copies it, and then we switch.

After that, I kind of started water fight, because I was showing Elizabeth how when I swept my arm through the water, I looked like Elsa.  When I showed her, though, I sprayed her with water in the face.  Laughing, Elizabeth did the move back, and pretty soon we were flinging lots of water at each other and getting really soaked.  It was so fun!
After we had swam for about an hour and a half, the sun came out, so we laid on our towels to dry off, ...
 ... and then headed home.
The first thing I said when I walked in the door was
"I'm hungry.  Can I have some popcorn?"
"Sure, Chrissa.  Elizabeth, would you like some as well?" Mom wondered, pulling out a microwave bag of popcorn.
"That would be wonderful, Mother.  Thank you!"
We sat down and enjoyed the warm treat.  I can't wait until summer, when I can do this kind of thing every day!
Is is warm enough to swim where you live?
